Church Weekend

We’ve just spent the weekend at Abbott Hall , a Christian Guild hotel, in Grange Over Sands, and what a wonderful weekend it was! We were blessed by good weather, good food and good fellowship. In order to make this happen and so as not to make costs prohibitive, we agreed as a church to raise the funds to cover the children’s accommodation. The young people also played their part in fund-raising. We’ve had a bacon butties and coffee morning, and a beetle drive with pie and pea supper. We’ve baked and bought cakes and we were treated to a wonderful 3-course dinner when the young people turned the church hall into a restaurant; they provided pre-dinner entertainment, waited on us in a most professional manner and the food was sensational. Come dine with us!

What a brilliant night! As part of our fund raising to cover the cost of the children going away with us on our Church Family Weekend to Abbott Hall , our young people turned our church hall into a restaurant for the night. We were greeted at the door and led to the coffee lounge where we were offered a "Thackley Zinger" and enjoyed pre-dinner entertainment provided by Fran playing her clarinet and Ben his trumpet. The meal was fantastic and the waiting service very professional! Here's the menu: Starter Homemade Mackerel Pate served with wholemeal bread Or Homemade American Meatloaf served with wholemeal bread Main Course Fricassee of chicken with a lime sauce served with pine nut and herb couscous and salad Dessert A choice from: Richard's baked cheesecake, Fresh fruit pavlova Apple pie Tea or Coffee Compliments to the chef! Our sincere thanks go to all the young people who had a busy evening laying tables, making salad, serving on, washing up and clearing up. Pa
