About us

God loves us all unconditionally, no strings attached. That’s the good news!

Thackley Methodist Church is one of several churches in the Bradford North Circuit of Methodist Churches served by a small team of ministers. If you have a need to speak to a minister, any one of them may respond; however, our link minister is Rev Nick Blundell.

We try always to be a welcoming and loving Christian family with an age range from toddlers to over 90. A community spirit is at the heart of all we do and we welcome children and adults each week as they attend the many community groups that meet on our premises.

Our church is a charitable organisation run by a team of volunteers and is wholly funded by personal donations and income from letting the premises - how the Methodist Church uses money. Maintaining our buildings is a challenge and we appreciate any offers of help with small jobs or donations through our JustGiving link at the bottom of the page.

Mission statement

We aim to be a worshipping, welcoming, caring Christian presence sharing the good news of Jesus within our community.

In fulfilling our mission we will:
  • Carry everything to God in prayer;
  • Worship God in a way that is relevant to the whole church family;
  • Support and care for those in need in our local area and beyond;
  • Encourage understanding between people of all cultures and faiths;
  • Encourage links with other churches and community groups;
  • Show the love, joy and peace of Jesus by supporting fair trade and challenging and influencing other issues from a Christian perspective.
  • In support of this the Stewards and Church Council will:
    • Look upon all who come as valued members of our church family where opinions may be expressed freely;
    • Listen and respond to the needs of our community;
    • Follow the guidelines and teachings of the Methodist Church;
    • Manage efficiently the resources entrusted to them, including people, money and buildings;
    • Challenge the church to increased commitment in worship and witness;
    • Endeavour to make church relevant to the changing needs of our community;
    • Be directed by the Holy Spirit in all of this.
There are twelve things in the Methodist Way of Life that we do individually and together as we grow as followers of Jesus, which help us to worship God, serve others, be evangelistic, and learn and care together.
None of this makes God love us more - but may help us realise how deeply we are loved by God.
