Christmas round-up

December proved to be a busy month with our Christmas celebrations.  Here's a quick round-up:
  • Carol Service 11 Dec - We were blessed by a wonderful service of readings of carols led by two of our worship leaders, Chris and John, with the help of many readers and videos - http://www.paperlesschristmas.org.uk/
  • Thackley Christmas Lights Switch On 17 Dec - We didn't hesitate to accept the invitation to lead the singing for the switch on of the Christmas Lights.  There were lots of our church members there; however, it was so dark we didn't manage to find each other!  Nevertheless we did our best to swell the singing.  This is a lovely opportunity for our local community to come together and we thank everyone who contributed.
  • Christingle Service 18 Dec - We were delighted to welcome a number of visiting families.  As always, it was very special and moving to light our Christingle candles and sing our last carol by candlelight.  The collection from this service went to Action for Children.
  • Christmas Eve Carol Service - As always the church was nearly full and it was an absolute joy to welcome so many visitors.  Our candlelit service provides a very special atmosphere of anticipation and hope.  The collection from this service went to Bradford Soup Run.
  • Christmas Day Service - Again, it was lovely to welcome a number of visitors as we celebrated the birth of Jesus and reflected upon what that means for us today.  As always the children (and adults) shared their Christmas presents with us.  The cash collection from this service went to McMillan Cancer Support.
Thank you to everyone who made our Christmas services so special.  We thank Rev Keith Hunt and Martin Bashforth who led our Christmas morning service and particularly thank our Church Stewards and Organists for all the work they put in before, during and after all of our services.

There were a number of our members who were unable to join us for Christmas due to illness;  they were always in our prayers and we gave thanks to those who worked to tend and care for them.

As is our custom, we didn't send individual Christmas cards; the Junior Church made a large Christmas card for us to sign and make a donation to the Blenheim Project

We hope that through our Christmas donations the light of Christ may have lightened the darkness of some of our more vulnerable members of society.

God bless you all.
