Christingle Service

We love getting such positive feedback! A big thank you to all who contributed to our Christingle Service to make it a special time of worship. Rev Pat Malham Using a story box full of intriguing props, Rev Pat Malham told the eternal story of God's Light of Love - how the Light always was, that through the ages the prophets pointed to the Light, then how Jesus was born at Christmas to be the Light with us in human form. Pat reminded us that we are the current carriers of that Light, encouraging us to continue shining God's Love into the world today, looking forward with hope and joy to the time when Jesus will come again and there will be no more darkness at all. We made our Christingle to take away to share the Light of Jesus with others. The orange represents the world. The red ribbon symbolises the love and blood of Christ. The sweets and dried fruit represent all of God’s creations. The lit candle represents Jesus’s light in the world, bringing hope to people living in d...

We are really excited to launch 123 our  Junior Church for Preschool* and KS1 children which meets on the 3rd Sunday (hence 123) of each month. Junior Church - Report to General Church Meeting

We have been coordinating Junior Church for a year now, and we are just about getting to grips with what we are doing. We have 4 children / young people who attend on a regular basis with another 4 or 5 who attend as and when they can. We have had a busy year and our highlights have been:- Learning about the story of creation and creating plates to represent the days, then presenting it to the congregation. Creating our wishes and Prayers calendar for the year. Painting our feet and learning about Jesus washing the disciples feet. Building our own church from Gingerbread (with fixtures and fittings) and getting the congregation to help finish the roof and window, and learning that a church is not just a building but is also the people, the love, prayers, support and community within it. Making bees for our bee-longing board. We are looking forward to developing Junior Church in the coming year and thank you for your continued support, love and prayers, as well as your accep...

Order out of chaos

At our November own arrangement service we thought about God’s creation and Sabbath rest; inspired by Junior Church’s project on creation. Look at the fantastic artwork they produced - great work JC. Gill had us making a zoo of noise as she told the story of the Morning of the World. We then looked at Hebrews Chapter 4 and thought about God’s day of rest ... not because he was tired but because his work was complete and he rejoiced about how good it was. We are often so busy in our modern world and made so aware of our imperfections that we forget to rest in God, to put our faith in Him, knowing that we are part of His creation and acknowledging that it is good! We used our washing line to reflect on where and how we see our Creator God in the world. Ruth then helped us to rest in God as we prayed quietly for the people and situations that concern us.  We also said Thank you to John who is taking a rest from JC and during the service the children made light gift box...

Changes to Junior Church

At the recent Church Council is was agreed that from April onwards Junior Church will meet once a month only on the third Sunday. On other Sundays, worksheets will be available on the children’s table in church.  The reasoning behind this was the variable numbers of children from week to week, the difficulties this presents for JC staff preparing the sessions and recognition that one of our strengths is being a welcoming church inclusive of all ages.   We will, of course, continue to have focused all age worship on the first Sunday of each month.
