Raising funds for Marie Curie

We are organising a coffee morning with a difference to raise funds in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care, and everyone is invited. This will include a cake stall together with craft activities, information resources and prompts to help those difficult conversations about death to be started.

Apart from proceeds from the book stall which is offered by Cornerstone, Skipton, all other money raised from the coffee morning will help Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes or at one of the charity’s hospices.

This is our second death cafe/coffee morning event this year. Death is something we all face yet it is often difficult to talk about. This special coffee morning provides a safe and supportive space for you to drop in, have a cuppa, browse the resources, get hands-on with glass painting and other crafts to create a personal keepsake, and maybe start some of those difficult conversations around death. What you do whilst you're with us is entirely your choice; there'll be no pressure to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable.

We feel this is a positive way in which we can support the local community. The more informed we are and the more easily we can talk about death, the more we are able to prepare for our own death, and offer meaningful support to the bereaved. On this occasion, the more money we raise, the more free care Marie Curie Nurses can provide to terminally ill people at home.

So please join us for coffee and make a difference.

About Marie Curie Cancer Care
Marie Curie Cancer Care is the leading charity providing care to people with any terminal illness in their own homes or in one of its nine hospices. The charity is also a leader in research into the best ways of caring for people with a terminal illness. In addition to this the charity designs and advises on end of life services and works to ensure that the best possible care and patient choice is at the heart of commissioning end of life care across the UK. All Marie Curie services are free of charge. Around 70% of the charity’s income comes from donations with the balance of funds coming from the NHS.
