Sorted! Youth church

Today we were privileged to have our worship led by Andy Milne assisted by members of the Sorted youth church. Andy is a Church Army evangelist who works with young people in the Bradford area and one of the Sorted groups meets on our premises each Friday evening.

Andy spoke of how God had planted in him a vision “for teenagers to experience God's love by being part of a Christian community that is totally relevant and real for their lives” and how he and his wife had trudged the streets of Idle and Thackley on wet Friday nights to meet, speak and, more importantly, to listen to young people to find out how they could take the gospel to them.

From those small beginnings there are now a number of groups meeting throughout the week in response to the members’ demands for opportunities to discover a deeper relationship with God. Matty shared with us how he had found God and is now teaching others about Him in ways that are meaningful to them; we were warned that ear plugs are sometimes needed!

Meeting God in a skateboard park may not be our cup of tea; similarly our ways of worship seem as strange to them. What we all took away from this service is the undeniable truth that this work is Spirit led; that Andy and his team have put their trust in God and although He takes them on a roller coaster ride, their work is providing young people from difficult family situations with the stability of a loving, caring church family with life changing effects.

Sorted need 3 things to support them:

1. Our prayers.
2. More helpers.
3. Financial support.

PLEASE help in any of these ways, and please take a look at the video about Sorted; it has an incredibly humbling Wow! factor and sheds no doubt that the gospel message is as relevant today as it ever was.
